What does a day at Legacy look like for guests?Guests will complete a Christ-centered curriculum for substance abuse recovery that utilizes a research-based approach and draws on best practices in our field. Women can expect a holistic approach to healing as they learn to cultivate meaningful leisure during their stay at Legacy. Guests will have limited access to technology as the majority of their time will be used to complete chores such as cooking, cleaning, and maintaining a garden, to engage in devotions and/or attend a chapel service, and to enjoy hobbies like playing guitar, knitting, writing, exercising, etc. Schooling is also an important component to Legacy’s services. Guests will not be plagued with boredom or loneliness, but rather will participate in relationship-building with other guests and with God, enjoy plenty of physical activity, and find rest and rejuvenation in Christ.

Why is a program like this necessary? We know that addiction is a massive and heartbreaking problem for thousands of Americans, destroying lives and ruining souls. The crisis is particularly acute for women, whose roles as mothers and caregivers in families often mean there are dependent children, which further complicates addiction and its impact. The need is great, and throughout Connecticut, unfortunately, these women face a revolving door with no sense of hope as existing models offer only temporary solutions and not comprehensive recovery in a Christ-centered home. The research/design phase of Legacy began in 2019 when a small group of future board and committee members met to pray and complete site visits to similar ministries designed to serve those dealing with addiction (visits included Hoving Home and His Mansion Ministries). Since then, the Lord has made it clear that there is a need for Christ-centered, relationship-based, and transition-focused recovery in southeastern Connecticut.

What are the different categories of giving?Budgetary projections show that to open a robust program and provide six women with a Bible-based curriculum, housing, and food, a minimum of $200,000 is needed. We ask donors to consider giving based on these categories: Supporters ($20 - $50) Pillars ($100 - $500) Cornerstones ($500 - $7500) Capstones ($7500 and up) Please get in touch with us for information about how donors will be honored.
